Book Crossing

Bookcrossing is a cool site I found. It lets you get rid of old books by signing up on the site, registering a book to get a "book ID number", write a little message in the book, and leaving it somewhere for other people to find.

It's like a message in a bottle, or a chainletter, or whatever, but with books. You get the ID, then you write a message like this inside the book:

Hi! I have registered this book at bookcrossing.com so I can track its journey through this world. Please go to www.bookcrossing.com/123-4567890  to let me know you found it, then read it and/or leave it somewhere for someone else to find! Thank you.

Of course, bookcrossing.com/123-4567890 is not a real web address. The 123-thing is supposed to be the ID number of the book, in my blog I just used 123 for an example.

Join Bookcrossing! It so rocks and I am going to release lots of books into the wild!

I hope I find some as well as releasing them smile_regular

Questions and Answers

If you have been reading my blog, you might have asked a few tiny questions. So, here are the answers to most of them (with the oldest ones at the end, so you can see how far down you have to go until you don't know what I'm talking about):

The deletion of your guestbook posts. Yes, I have deleted many of your guestbook posts, but the guestbook is only for things like "I was here" and "this site is good". Feedback, questions etc. are sent to me by a personal message, and questions about one of my blog posts go in that post's comments. By the way, any posts like "do you want to date me" and "where is your school" will be permanently deleted and never brought up again.

The conferences. Yes, I know, I should have written how they went. It was neither good nor bad. That's why I didn't bother to write about them.

The school. Well, you might not understand much of my school-related posts, but the fact is, I don't either. I don't understand the weirdness of that school, and chances are you don't either. Makes me think why I bother to write about them. Well, I need somewhere to get these thoughts out of my head...

Leap day. I said that Leap Day adds 1400 minutes to our average year. Actually, I quoted someone else. I would not bother to work out the extra minutes of homework time you get in leap years.

Widgets. I don't use Yahoo!Widgets any more, but I still have Rainlendar. I should include the updated desktop snapshot in a blog post... later...

My candy addiction. Yes, I am still candy crazy. It's just that I'm not very blogging-about-being-candy-crazy crazy.

My wallpaper collection. Yes, I did post wallpapers on this site, but now I have stuck to one wallpaper and deleted all the others. So, no more wallpapers. Not for now.

The school disco. No, I never went to it. Should have written that.

My mobile phone. Yes, I found it. It was on my bedside table, as said in that blog post. Lucky me.

So, that was it (I guess) so you should not have any more questions.

If you do, why not post them in the comments?

A million percent

Hmm... I ate 100% of my breakfast and 80% of my lunch. Obviously, that comes to 180%. But that can't be right, only 100% exists (according to my math teacher. More on her later.) 60% of the teachers are gone. I understood 0.01% of what the math teacher said, but I understood 90% of what to do in the math book. Her way of explaining stuff to us is down to 0.5%. I ate 300% of a kiwi, and 50% of an apple. I understood 10% of what the science teacher said, and 15% of the teachers are quitting. I am 60% good at math, but I think math sucks 100%. I am doing 5% of my homework right now, as well as typing on 80% of the keyboard. I have 0.01% of a pencil in my pencil case (hey, that's the same as my level of understanding of substitute math teachers! Strange, huh?) and 990% of a colored pencil (so out of the substitute math teacher's ideas). We also saw a 100% drunk man on the street...

Sooooo, that comes to...

Two thousand and forty point fifty two per cent?

That can't be right!

At least not according to my math teacher...

Shrink your Start Menu

Startme

Honestly, have you ever seen such a small start menu? I bet you haven't, and neither did I, until I stumbled across SMOz (Start Menu Organizer), a program that lets you easily drag-and-drop the stuff in your start menu into a set of files, so that your start menu significantly shrinks.

Thanks, Lifehacker!

Conferences

The hour of doom. The time of danger. What is it? You guessed it. Parent-Student-Teacher Conference Day. I crossed out "you guessed it" because I don't think you did. If you were close, you would have said "Parent-Teacher Conference Night". That is wrong. Most of the time, our school has Parent-Teacher Conference Night, but that's mostly for the little kids' conferences. We leave school early so we can have Parent-Student-Teacher Conference Day. That's why I didn't wait with this blog post until after school. 'cause school's already over.

Go Black

Black saves energy. True?

It sounds silly, but a screen displaying stuff that is mostly black with (for instance) white text saves more energy than displaying mostly light colors.

One example can be found at blackle.com, which is the same as Google, but black. Make a difference!

Happy Leap Day!

Leap Day — oh, it’s such a mysterious date on the calendar. Every four years it appears and gives us an extra 1,440 minutes. It’s a bonus day just hiding out in February. Sneaky, sneaky.

I spent ages on my math homework. Because we got even more now. More algebra. That's just rubbish.

2月28日

Algebra

We're doing algebra at school. I've been sitting here for hours, and I'm still not finished with half of it. I bet I'll be sitting here all night. I know you guys can't help me with algebra, but if you know any shortcuts, will you please help me?

5m/2=3

5?a/2-4=0

etc. etc. etc.

That's a million hours of work for me!

Rainlendar

I know this looks like a bit of a ripoff so you guys will download Rainlendar, but it is sooo cool. This is what my desktop looks like now:

untitled

The dark blue things are Rainlendar. (By the way, the rest of it is from widgets.yahoo.com.)

It looks cool, doesn't it?

Homework

Today was Pyjamas Day at school. I wore red snoopy pyjamas. Practically everybody wore pyjamas to school. It was fun. Pyjamas should be the new school uniform.

Now I am doing my homework. It is so boring. Here is a quote from my essay:

The Earth spins round the sun (indicated by long arrow) because of the sun’s gravitational field (the short arrows). The gravity keeps the Earth in orbit.

Ok, that is my "essay language". In case you are wondering, the "arrows" are things in my diagram. That is, my really ugly diagram.

Got to go to dinner now plate. See you later (that is, in my next blog post)

Candy addict (aka me)

I love candy, even the really gross kinds. Not sure why. I ate a whole packet of cherry cakes, that I bought because I'm addicted to the orange and raspberry kind. Now I'm addicted to cherry as well. Stupid me!

Skool Daze

School is a funny place. So is home. At school we have a million different substitutes for maths, as well as doing a group project that nobody understands (!) and when we get home, all we do is homework. I only have REALLY little time to be online today. Btw, here is today's wallpaper pic:

Chocolate

I love chocolate. I just ate a whole box of orange-flavored chocolate sticks. That was gross. Why did I do such a thing? Anyway, I have started a wallpaper collection, so here is the one I am using right now:

More to come soon!

About this site

                                      Excited

As you notice, I might have deleted your guestbook post. The guestbook is a place for stuff like "I was here" and "Love ur site". Things like "the background is ugly" should be sent to me by a personal message, and messages about a specific blog post should be put in that post's comments.

Sorry about all this boringness, my next blog post will be more fun...  fingerscrossed

Click

This day has been full of clicks. The clicks of the remote as we zap the channels for a good film, the clicks of the keys as I type this, and the clicks of the knitting needles that I have just learnt to use. Also, there have been quite a lot of clicks when I changed my picture, after negative comments in the guestbook smile_wink so I hope this picture is better than the old one. I have inserted the old picture into this blog post for future references:

Bored

This is fun but boring. No school, that's good, but there's lots of homework, etc. etc. etc. Not that blogging like this is fun either, but I just want to keep my ditched new year's resolution... smile_thinking

Wow!

Can't believe I haven't blogged for 2 weeks! What's gone into me? Well, here is a recent update of the things I should have blogged ages ago:

New Year's Disco: There's going to be a dance at school! I hope it will be fun...

Teachers back from strike: Yes, that's right! Except for the maths teacher who was sick before the strike, during the strike she was not sick, and now she is sick again... wonder if this sick stuff is true... is she sick or "sick"? smile_thinking

But I will be online the rest of the weekend smile_regular LOL! messenger

A bad day

Yesterday was a bad day. And if you want to know what a "bad day" is, here is a complete definition:

Yesterday, 8:15 AM. I place mobile phone on bedside table. I think, "This is going to be a bad day". I have no idea how true this really is. I go to toilet, planning to then put mobile in bag.

8:30 AM. Get in car. I think mobile is in bag, when I really left it on bedside table. Have no idea of the bad things to come.

9:00 AM. In corridor in church. (School uses church as spare classrooms) Place my bag in corner, along with coat and hat. Friend places bag next to mine, along with very expensive laptop.

9:30 AM. You have no idea how boring this English lesson is. In turn, I have no idea how bad this day is.

10:30 AM. Finally out of English. Take mandarin orange, and will now go outside for recess. Take coat, only to notice that bag is gone.

10:32 AM. Frantically searching for bag. Teacher tells me to go outside.

10:46 AM. Back from recess. I quickly search everywhere, including girls' toilet and under bench. See pink laptop bag, amongst other things.

11:15 AM. Teacher tells us to bring all our stuff to art room. I say I don't have any stuff. Teacher says, "What do you mean?" I show her place where bag was. Whole class searches. Laptop is now also gone. Teacher tells us to check if we have lost any more stuff. The laptop owner's iPod and mobile phone is also gone, along with other girl's purse full of a few month's savings for buying new shoes. Boys check in boys' toilet. Boy comes out, holding a soft toy dog, the one that was hanging on my bag. Class nerd says, "I think someone is playing a practical joke on us". Nobody else agrees, everyone takes this seriously. In boys' toilet, another soft toy animal and a folder of school books, a drinks bottle and an umbrella is also found, all from my bag. Rest of class is very scared.

11:17 AM. People who have not been robbed stay in art room to work, us 3 girls go upstairs to office to report it, and tell what was stolen.

11:50 AM. I am worried, as I think mobile phone is in bag.

12:05 PM. I get friend's school lunch, as friend is sick.

12:30 PM. I go back to office to phone home. Lady in office is now talking to police.

12:50 PM. Bestie in student council tells me to join meeting and tell what was stolen.

1:00 PM. Class is scared, bring bags into art room, something that they normally do not do.

3:00 PM. Get into car. Discuss the happenings of today.

3:30 PM. Start English homework.

3:35 PM. Get phone call from bestie telling that girl who lost purse called to tell that a lady called saying that she found my bag a mile away from school.

3:40 PM. Chat a bit on MSN, then shut down my computer.

4:10 PM. Call girl who lost her purse, ask questions about bag.

Today, 11:00 AM. Call girl who lost her purse. Bag is now at her house. Most of my stuff is still in bag, except for memory stick.

Now that's what I call a bad day!

Back to school

What's the point of going back to school? What's the point of going back to school at all? The teachers are on strike anyway. They've put up a really big banner saying "teachers on strike" in huge letters. It looks weird. Now the teachers have a private table with coffee. It doesn't look like they are on strike, it just looks like they are standing around outside with weird coats, and talking and going to the shop to fill up their coffee supply. And they stand on chunks of white Styrofoam, as if not to wear down the ground. That is so weird. Then I chatted with my friends on MSN. I got i'm now. I'm contributing to the Humane Society. My friend wants to become a member so he can contribute to the red cross. His sister works for the red cross, so I will help him get the code for it.

Happy New Year!

Hi! As you might have noticed, it's 2008, so I have spent this morning writing my New Year's resolutions. I'm not going to write them all here, I'm just going to say that one of them is to spend time blogging. Yes, blogging, right here in my blog, almost every day. I will also be online on Messenger quite a lot (New Year's resolution no. 14).

It feels like a new start, but I have to constantly remind myself that this is 2008, not a parallel universe. I'm still a 7th grade girl, I still have the same friends etc. etc. etc.

But some is still different. Some tiny differences and some big differences that come with the new year...
